The UT FET47 uses United's HZ Series capsule - A 34mm, dual-backplate, all-brass design developed with capsule designer Eric Heiserman. Featuring a dual-diaphragm, 6-micron, 24k gold-sputtered Mylar element and a custom Cinemag USA output transformer.
United designed the HZ Series capsule for an open, detailed, three-dimensional sound, aiming to bring that vintage large-diaphragm character to a wider range of studios at a more accessible price point. The capsule's internal dampening also eliminates the need for a separate shockmount, since it's built into the mic itself.
It has a cardioid polar pattern with a frequency response 20Hz–20kHz, max SPL of 136dB (145dB with the -10dB pad engaged), self-noise under 10dB, and a 75Hz highpass filter.
