The SSL SiX is SSL's compact desktop mixer, built to bring the sound and workflow of a full SSL console down to something small enough to fit in a bag. It's aimed at studios, post-production, stage use, and podcasting alike, and despite the small footprint it carries a great set of features: two SuperAnalogue mic preamps (the same design used in SSL's large-format Duality and AWS consoles), a one-knob version of SSL's classic feed-forward Channel Compressor, a new two-band Channel EQ with switchable shelf and bell curves, inserts, and faders.

The signal path is fully balanced from front to back, aside from the headphone output, which SSL credits for the wide dynamic range, low noise, and low distortion typical of their larger consoles. On the main mix bus sits a two-knob version of the legendary G-Series Bus Compressor, using the same circuit design as SSL's larger consoles but with fixed ratio, attack, and release settings, built to deliver that classic SSL glue. There's also a dedicated talkback mic input feeding SSL's Listen Mic Compressor, a circuit with a reputation for sounding great well beyond its intended talkback use.

The SSl SiX features two SuperAnalogure mic preamps then channels 3 and 4 are stereo, with trim and pan/balance controls plus 100mm faders. The SiX also features two stereo EXTernal inputs (with level controls) that can be sent to the mix bus. It all adds up to twelve inputs that can be summed to the main mix bus during mixdown. In mixdown mode, SiX becomes a 12-channel analogue summing mixer (utilising the alt inputs on the rear panel), letting you route stems or individual tracks through its SuperAnalogue signal path for extra depth and width before they hit a stereo bus.
