The Heritage Audio BritStrip is a single-rack-unit channel strip combining a 1073-style mic preamplifier, an expanded 1073-style three-band EQ, a Class A DI, and the diode-bridge compressor originally developed for Heritage Audio's Successor. It's built around the same discrete, three-stage Class A preamp circuit as Heritage's 73 JR II, paired with a new input transformer co-designed with Carnhill exclusively for Heritage Audio, plus a matching Carnhill output transformer.
The preamp offers 80dB of gain, a 20dB pad, phase reversal, and switchable input impedance (1200Ω or 300Ω), the higher setting useful for ribbon microphones. The Class A JFET DI section includes a passive thru output so you can feed a separate amp at the same time as recording. The three-band EQ uses inductor-based mid and high-pass sections, with extended high and low shelving bands that can switch to a bell response for more surgical work.
The compressor section is a mono version of the diode-bridge design from Heritage's Successor, with faster attack and release times than the vintage originals it's inspired by, a blend control for built-in parallel compression, and a flexible sidechain with several selectable filter frequencies plus an external sidechain send/return. EQ and compression can be routed either pre or post each other, and two BritStrips can have their compressors linked for stereo tracking.
