The AKG D112 MKII is the latest version of the legendary D112 mic that's been a live and studio staple for decades, keeping the same sonic design while updating the stand mount to a more conventional, integrated flexible design. It's built to handle high SPL sources like kick drums and bass cabs without distortion, rated at over 160dB. It has been a kick drum standard for many years, it is also often seen miking up bass cabinets and guitar cabinets.
The large-diaphragm capsule has a very low resonance frequency, giving it a solid, powerful low end response, paired with a presence boost around 4kHz that helps a kick punch through a dense mix or loud stage without extra EQ. An integrated hum-compensation coil keeps noise to a minimum, useful on stages with lighting rigs or other electrical interference nearby.
