The AEA N13 is designed to be natural and open at a mid-field distance, with a particularly strong ability to pick up fast transients. Relatively bright for a ribbon mic, the N13 microphone excels in capturing drum overheads, strings, acoustic guitars, horns, and piano.

The N13 is designed to sound natural and open at mid-field distances (roughly 8 inches to 3 feet), with a notably fast transient response and a brighter character than most ribbon mics. It's AEA's first non-Big Ribbon bidirectional design, built around a new motor and their thinnest ribbon yet with JFET electronics and a custom German transformer

Well suited to drum overheads, strings, acoustic guitar, and piano at working distance, and it does great in closer miked applications like horns or vocals too and takes EQ well.
